Motion pro wheel balancer3/1/2024 ![]() The only problem is that the bearings in your FJR1300 wheel are lubricated with THICK GREASE. It fits right inside your wheel and is long enough that you can support both ends on a pair of jack stands, or anything else that makes the shaft horizontal. The short side is that it requires some thinking, trial & error, and a bit of time.Ī very good "balance shaft" is provided for us on our motorcycles. The beauty of a static balancer is that it can not fall out of calibration. The beauty of a "computer" spin balancer is that it is quick and supposedly idiot proof. Duh? I knew that immediately because balance should be perfect or darn near on the 2nd spin. Later talked to a senior employee to learn their balancer has been out of calibration. IIRC my balance used 1/2 Oz, two 7g weights. Was plenty confident when low tech heavy side falls that I did a better job. Took it home and checked with my less than optimal balancer to find the expected. He eventually declared the wheel balanced with about 2.5 Oz of weights yet the machine wanted to add more. Spun again and it asked for more in different places. He spun my wheel and attached the specified weights. So I mounted my first FJR tire and drove 60 miles round trip. The balance check is started automatically when the grinding wheel is switched on.Click to expand.A national chain will balance your wheel off-bike for free no matter where you bought the tire. The balancing head uses a motor to move the weights to the specified positions. The unit determines the imbalance and controls the balancing head. The balancing procedure (balance check, balancing where necessary) is started via the machine control. ![]() ![]() The balancing head is integrated behind the grinding wheel in the grinding spindle. This requires a balancing head and a balancing unit, both of which are permanently installed in the machine. Balancing weights must be positioned manually.2-plane balancing (for 2 wheels on one spindle) is possible.Up to 4 grinding wheels can be balanced in one machine with one unit.Balancing possible at any time without removing the grinding wheel from the machine.Based on these two measurements, the unit determines where the balancing weights must be mounted.30°) and a second measurement is initiated. One of the weights is then adjusted by a defined angle (e.g.With the wheel running, an initial measurement cycle is initiated to detect imbalance and phase. Two balancing weights are manually mounted to the flange in a neutral position (e.g.The grinding wheel is mounted in the machine. Two variants of dynamic balancing are described below.Ī unit is required that is either permanently installed in the machine and can be operated via the control or used as an external instrument. This method is less precise than dynamic balancingĭynamic balancing takes place inside the machine with a rotating grinding wheel.Grinding wheel must be removed from the machine for balancing. In case of the opposite, move the two other weights toward no. 1 pulls downward, move the two other weights symmetrically away from no. Now the grinding wheel is rotated by 90° and stopped.1 is mounted exactly where the heaviest point of the wheel is and will not be moved. The heaviest point of the wheel is now located at the bottom.Set the grinding wheel on the balancing stand and let it settle. In addition, the balancing stand must be placed on a firm base (no rubber pads). The balancing arbor, its seat, and also the contact surface must be clean. The balancing process is performed with the grinding wheel at rest.Ī spirit level must be used to level the balancing stand and the grinding wheel must be dry. In such situations balancing is performed outside the machine on a balancing stand. Static balancing of grinding wheels is performed where there is no balancing unit on the machine.
